The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket Narrarator : The setting is in the Pacific Ocean some place along Costa Rica. Where Pym, Augustus, Parker, and Dirk Peters are on a boat called the Grampus. The boat has lost the entirety of its sails because of the high breezes and thunder storms and is fundamentally coasting any place the breeze and the waves take it. The remainder of the team has executed each other off when they endeavored to mutany the boat. They have been without nourishment for around 5 days and have been living off water they get in their garments. The boat is loaded up with water so they cannot venture out beneath deck to get any food from the store room and they are altogether feeble and are despretely searching for another wellspring of food to keep them alive until a boat should discover them and get them. Dwindles : Maybe one of us could swim underneath the deck and get to the store room and locate some new water and some food. Pym : But you would need to feel your way to the store room since you were unable to find in this salty water. Hello Augustus don't you know your way to the store room well? Augustus : Yea. Tie this rope around my midsection so I can have something to follow back on the off chance that I cannot discover my direction. Parker : Ok. On the off chance that you need assistance simply pull on the rope and we will pull you up. Augustus : Ok here I go...................................I think I discovered it yet the entryway was bolted, give me that hatchet over yonder and I will bring that down with me and perhaps I could separate the door.....................................well I got into the room yet everything I could discover was broken glass. I think everything was broken when the boat was shaking to and fro during the tempest. Parker : Oh incredible so what do we do now stay here and hold on to bite the dust. Pause!!! I have a thought possibly one of us should bite the dust so as to keep the others alive. Pym : You mean cannabilism? Parker : Yea Pym : NO WAY!!! Subsides : Acually I dont think we truly have a decision. It is possible that we do that or we bite the dust. Augustus : Yea I concur with Peters and Parker I dont think we have a decision. Pym : Ok, fine yet who will be simply the one to forfeit and to get eaten by the others? Parker : Well I state we draw straws. I am going to take these splinters of wood and have three long pieces and one short piece. Is that reasonable with everybody? Pym : Yea I presume Dwindles : Yea Augustus : Yea Parker : Ok, Peters you draw first. Dwindles : Ok, here I go................YES!!! A LONG PIECE!!! Parker : Ok, Augustus your turn. Augustus : Ok, ......................A LONG PIECE!!! Parker : Well it would seem that its down to me and you Pym would you like to draw or do you need me to draw? Pym : I surmise I'll draw. I cant look............................... Narrarator : To see whether Pym gets the short straw and gets eaten by the others or on the off chance that he gets the long straw and figures out how to endure one more day read The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket.
